To pass, you will have to complete the test with
no serious faults, and you must  have 15 or fewer
minor errors.

When you arrive back at the test centre you
must drive forwards Into a parking bay where
the examiner will tell you the result of your test
and go through any driving faults with you.

You can then claim your full licence after your test
In your practical test, you have approximately
40 minutes to demonstrate everything you have
learned in your driving lessons.

You need to show you can drive competently
and safely in all kinds of driving situations.

You will be asked to do two of the four reversing
manoeuvres you have practised with your
instructor, and possibly make an emergency stop.
or 20 metres if  the new-style number plate is used.
New-style number plates are easily identifiable
starting with two letters eg AB 51 ABC.If you can't
speak English or have difficulty reading, you may
copy down what you see.

Then you will be asked 2 of  the 19 official DSA
‘show me tell me’ questions.  If you answer 1 or
both incorrectly you will pick up 1 driving fault.

Once inside the car he will explain how the test
will be conducted and then you drive off.

The examiner will ask if  you want your instructor to
accompany you on the test.

The Practical Test Itself
When you arrive for your test you will go to the
waiting room where your examiner will call your
name.

Your licence will be checked and you will be
asked to sign the test marking form.
The practical test can only be taken after
passing the theory test
Before getting into your car the examiner will test
your eyesight.  The driving examiner will ask you
to read the number plate on a stationary vehicle.

The distance requirement for the eyesight test
using old style number plates is 20.5 metres
Part Two
Part two is the hazard perception test.  Immediately
after your theory test, you will watch a series of
14 one-minute video clips, each showing potential
hazards involving road conditions, pedestrians or
road users.  Online hazard perception tests are often
free or limited free trial,

There are 15 developing hazards to identify and you
can score up to 5 points on each one, depending on
how quickly you identify them. You need to score 44
out of 75 to pass.
Part one is a 50 question multiple-choice test.
To pass you must answer 43 or more questions
correctly within the 57 minutes allowed.
There are also 5 case study questions based on
a driving scenario to be answered.

During the test you will have the option to skip
questions and return to them later.

There are a variety of books and software available
to help prepare for the test. Online mock theory tests
are often free or limited free trial,
Part One
At The Test Centre
You will go to a test centre which is convenient
for you.  On arrival at the test centre you will be
greeted by an official who will take your name
and check your appointment time.

Your provisional driving licence will be checked
and then all personal belongings are put into a
locker for safe keeping.
The theory test is a two part exam both parts
of which must be passed before taking the
practical driving test.
You are then taken to your individual computer
station where the process will be explained to you.

There will be an opportunity for you to have
15 minute to practise.

The multi question test will take approximately
57 minutes, which is then followed by the
hazard awareness test which lasts for 15 minutes.

You will be given the result of your test before you
leave.
